Free open-source voxel game engine
Luanti, formerly known as Minetest, is a free and open-source voxel game engine and platform. Out of the box you can explore, mine and build in blocky worlds, and with one click you can install many free games and mods created by the community — from survival and creative building to puzzle and adventure games.
Luanti runs well even on older PCs, supports single-player and online multiplayer servers, and includes a built-in content browser for games, mods and texture packs. Because it is open source, it is also popular in schools and with young developers learning to make their own games and mods using the Lua scripting language.
The default game is fairly basic, so the fun comes from exploring the community content. For a free, family-friendly building game without ads or in-game purchases, Luanti is an excellent choice.
