Update all programs on your Windows PC

Old software is a common way for malware to get in. Windows 10 and 11 include a free tool from Microsoft called winget that can check and update your programs. You do not need to install an updater from us or anyone else.

Step 1: See what is out of date

winget upgrade

Right-click Start, open Terminal or PowerShell, paste this and press Enter. It only shows a list and changes nothing.

Step 2: Update everything

winget upgrade --all --accept-package-agreements --accept-source-agreements

Save your work first, because programs may close while they update. Some publishers do not provide updates through winget, and those programs need updating on their own.
