OBS Studio (Open Broadcaster Software) is a free, open-source program for screen recording and live streaming. It is used by YouTubers, gamers, teachers and businesses to record tutorials, capture gameplay and stream to YouTube, Twitch, Facebook and other platforms.
OBS works with scenes made up of sources: your screen, a single window, a webcam, images, text, browser pages and audio devices. You can switch between scenes live, add filters such as noise suppression and chroma key (green screen), and mix multiple audio tracks. It supports hardware encoding on NVIDIA, AMD and Intel graphics for smooth recording with low CPU use.
The interface can feel overwhelming at first, but the built-in auto-configuration wizard gets beginners recording within minutes. There are no watermarks, time limits or paid upgrades. For anyone serious about recording or streaming, OBS Studio is the standard tool.
