Free music notation software for writing sheet music
MuseScore Studio is a free notation program for composing, arranging and printing sheet music. You can enter notes with the mouse, a computer keyboard or a MIDI keyboard, then hear your score played back with realistic sounds.
It imports and exports MusicXML, so scores can be exchanged with other notation programs. It is meant for notation rather than audio production, so recording work belongs in a separate audio program.
Pros
- Free and open source
- Realistic playback sounds
- MusicXML import and export
Cons
- Not an audio recording tool
