GIMP vs Krita: which should you use on Windows?
GIMP and Krita are both free, open-source and capable, but they were built for different jobs. GIMP is mainly a photo editor, and Krita is mainly a painting program.
Short answer
For editing photos, choose GIMP. For drawing and painting, especially with a graphics tablet, choose Krita. Many artists install both, because the files move between them easily as PNG or PSD.
